There is little to no evidence to suggest that the topical use of castor oil is unsafe during pregnancy, and it is often used to reduce stretch marks, improve hair growth, and moisturise the skin. However, due to the fact that internal use of castor oil can induce labour, and cause severe nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea, we would recommend speaking with your healthcare practitioner before using castor oil, even topically, while pregnant.
