This is a dream role designed specifically for a high-achieving, tech-savvy university graduate who believes there is more to life than getting a job at a mega-corporation and counting the days until retirement.
Dear Future Entrepreneurial Superstar,
Do you have ambitions to become a future CMO or business owner?
Do you want to work for a company where you are more than just a number?
A company where you can actually love what you do and enjoy going to work?
A company where you can make a real difference!
A company where there’s a huge opportunity for both professional & personal growth?
If you’ve always been an expert communicator who is technologically inclined and would like to take those skills to the next level -- while at the same time learning the crucial entrepreneurial and marketing skills you need to grow your first company -- this could be the opportunity you’re looking for.
Before you learn more about the opportunity, I should probably introduce myself.
Who am I?
I’m the growth-focused co-founder of Mister Jones, a fast-growing eCommerce business well on its way in becoming a globally recognised brand.
Prior to going “all in” on the idea of Mister Jones I’d spent 10+ years climbing the corporate ladder, only to realise that once I neared the top, the ladder I was hastily climbing was propped against the wrong wall…
Long commutes, politics & stupidly long hours - enough was enough.
Half an MBA, 50+ best selling business books and 100’s of podcasts later, Mister Jones was born.
Starting from our dining room table in 2017, Mister Jones has grown into a truly amazing brand that helps women of all kinds feel their best. 2 years on, our small but mighty team of 4 is ready to welcome a new member to the family.
Our vision for Mister Jones is to create a company where people want to work because they enjoy what they do and that their work helps to bring real tangible value to our customers' lives.
Enough about me, here’s the opportunity:
Work as a “right-hand woman/man” for a fast-growing company that helps 1000’s of women around the world feel their best every single day.
In this role, you will first-hand see (& do) what it takes to build a successful global business.
You’ll be exposed to all facets of our business where you’ll gain a true understanding of what running a business looks and feels like.
You’ll be assigned a broad range of projects to take ownership of.
You’ll be mentored & coached both by our in-house team as well as being offered world-class niche-specific training like direct response copywriting, media buying, email strategy & more.
If you’ve got a burning desire to be an entrepreneur, and this sounds like the opportunity you’re looking for, here are the…
Skills We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who…
Is hungry to learn about marketing and entrepreneurship. This is the most important factor in your success.
Has always been the “tech person” in their family and feels at home troubleshooting tech issues.
A polished writer who is comfortable creating content, and editing his or her own work without much oversight.
Is a finisher. Do you hate leaving projects unfinished? You must love the details of your projects and work dutifully to ensure the user has a positive experience with your product.
Is a self-starter who won’t take no for an answer.
An analytical mind who’s been successful in mathematics.
A problem-solver who can independently identify solutions to problems.
Can juggle multiple projects at once with a smile.
Is an avid learner who enjoys listening to podcasts & reading books about marketing.
Has a strong grasp of social media. If you know how to get likes, comments, and shares….we want your help!
Basic/intermediate design skills. You won't be expected to create ads from scratch but it would be well regarded if you had the skills to make minor design edits & tweaks on the fly.
Who This Is Not For:
Someone who thinks that learning is over when they finish school.
Someone who is only motivated by a boss telling him or her to work harder.
Someone who doesn’t believe that how you feel on the inside directly correlates with how you perform in life and business.
We Hire the Best, Regardless of Their Location
We believe flexibility in where you work leads to better performance and happiness. Performance and attitude is the most important aspect of this job, not clocking hours in the office or water cooler politics.
Want to set up shop at a coworking space in Bali, or put the finishing touches on an email campaign while sipping coffee at your local café? Fine with us. As long as you can work on an AU timezone, we’re cool with it.
Unlike other jobs, we don’t believe that what you do should dictate where you live.
We’re looking for people who can demonstrate they hold themselves to a higher standard in everything they do because with great flexibility comes great responsibility.
All this flexibility doesn’t mean we’re not a close-knit team…
For your first month, you’ll be working side-by-side with the CEO & Project Manager, and after that, you’ll have daily meetings and annual retreats to make sure we’re growing stronger as a team (we’re shooting for the Maldives for our next annual retreat *pending COVID).
You Must Love Marketing:
Peter Drucker, the father of business consulting, made a statement long ago that we follow to this day:
“Business enterprise has two–and only two–basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business.”
Marketing, and specifically direct response marketing, is what drives success in every industry, and to be successful here it’s something you must be excited to learn about.
We Hire Characters Not Positions:
We’re a small company with big aspirations, and we work hard (and have a LOT of fun) while making that happen. If you have what it takes as an individual - in other words, if you’re a consistent high-achiever in everything you do in life - then you'll fit in well at our company.
Responsibilities Include (But are limited to):
Coordinating User Generated Content creation
Coordinating the delivery of content across multiple channels (email, paid social, blog posts etc)
Managing company dashboards and evaluating metrics for company success
Interfacing with external suppliers (web development, agencies/media buyers)
Coordinating logistics around in-person off sites
Managing organic social media pages
Many, many hats will be worn.
What's in it for you?
Here's your chance to put your entrepreneurial skills to good use and ACTUALLY make decisions that will help us grow as a business, create value for our customers, and have fun. We’re looking ONLY for A-Players for this role. You'll be taking over a VERY IMPORTANT role in the company and it's a big opportunity!
In short, this is a UNIQUE opportunity to "take your entrepreneurial skills to the next level" AND learn a ton. It's also an opportunity to join a fun, young, fast-growing company. We’re getting 100's of applicants right now, so please make sure you show me why you're unique and the best person for this role.
Our Hiring Process:
Round 1) Submit resume & cover letter
Round 1 closes the 21st of August if not before
Round 2) Successful applicants will be asked to submit a short video answering a few questions
Round 3) Successful applicants will be asked to pitch a few ideas that can help Mister Jones grow.
We’ll respond to all applicants in due course. Please do not follow-up, our service team are already swamped!
Remuneration: This is a full-time position with the starting annual salary of $40,000 AUD.
